Texas BBQ! Does it get any better? Nope, it doesn’t. We love trying out new BBQ spots and frequenting our local favorites. People in Texas are serious about BBQ…..I mean real serious. It’s cause for great debate statewide over who has the best. We are thankful that we don’t have to make those decisions…..and we are also thankful that Texas Monthly puts in the research to assemble the TOP 50 BBQ Joints in Texas every few years. We were also thrilled that Daniel Vaughn, Texas Monthly’s BBQ editor, aka “The BBQ Snob” asked us to create the official t-shirt for the list. When he asked us a few weeks ago if we would be interested we jumped at the chance for sure. Combining great Texas BBQ and art/apparel was a no brainer. The design is hand drawn in alphabetical order and it includes 25 Honorable Mentions as well. Apparently a couple of new HMs were added in the magazine after printing the tee, so they were unfortunately left off. I took the list, started in the Panhandle and worked my way down through the body of the state. I tried to make the Top 50 a little bigger in hopes of standing out more. I misspelled one joint on the original drawing- Kolacny’s – it’s spelled “Kolancy’s by mistake on the drawing but was corrected in the digital version before print. Then I inked the drawing, scanned it, digitized it, and sent it to print. We decided on a navy blue tee with white in so that it would be easy to read and not get confused with our Texas Towns tee. You can pick up a tee —-> here.
